Justin Upton hitting home runs at Petco Park at record pace
When he was first introduced by the Padres, Justin Upton said he was unfazed by the size of his new home -- Petco Park:
"Everyone says it's big, but I don't think so," Upton said. "I think it plays pretty fair. I've enjoyed quite a bit of success here. I enjoy playing here. I think the park is great.”
So far Upton has lived up to his word: he has ten home runs this year -- eight of which have come at Petco. The eight homers puts him halfway toward breaking the record for most homers hit in a single season at Petco, which opened in 2004. The record was set by Will Venable who hit 15 for the Padres in 2013. The Padres have barely played 20 home games so far which leaves 61 games left for Upton to hit another eight.
