PHOENIX (AP) Bryce Harper has been scratched from the Washington Nationals' lineup against the Arizona Diamondbacks because of an illness.
Last year's NL MVP was replaced in right field Tuesday night by Chris Heisey. Harper was originally set to bat third a night after going 1 for 4 with three runs in Washington's 14-1 win over Arizona.
Harper was hitting .235 with 20 homers, 56 RBIs and a .380 on-base percentage for the NL East leaders.
