BOSTON (AP) Baltimore shortstop J. J. Hardy left Sunday night's game against the Boston Red Sox after six innings with a strained right hamstring.

Hardy was 1 for 2 with a sacrifice fly before he was pinch hit for by Steve Lombardozzi in the seventh inning.

Lombardozzi, who was called out on strikes, stayed in the game and played second base. Jonathan Schoop, who started at second, moved to short.

The Orioles led 5-3.
