For the Giants, celebrating their championships extends beyond just honoring the players on the field. Since their 2010 championship the Giants have also been honoring their PA announcer, Renel Brooks-Moon, with her own World Series rings.

While those in attendance at Giants games will mostly just hear her voice, fans got a glimpse of her recently when she received a 2014 ring. She told NBC News:

"Giants president Larry Baer surprised me by coming into the PA booth and presenting me with a 2014 World Series ring," Brooks-Moon says. "They captured the moment on camera and showed it to fans on the stadium's scoreboard."

Brooks-Moon has been both a witness to the Giants’ historic recent accomplishments as well as a history-maker herself. In 2000 she became the only black female PA announcer in Major League Baseball. When the Giants were in the World Series in 2002 she became the first woman to be at the mic for any major American professional sports championship. Her scorecard from Game 3 is on display in Cooperstown.

"My grandfather was a big fan of Negro League baseball and taught my mom how to score games, and she in turn taught me," Brooks-Moon says. "But to be in the PA booth actually announcing the games, is amazing. For me, there's not a day that goes by that I don't think about being a trailblazer, for lack of a better word."
