The Boston Red Sox will start right-hander Clay Buchholz on Opening Day against the Philadelphia Phillies.

Buchholz, 30, is coming off the worst full season of his career in 2014. In 28 starts, he was 8-11 with a 5.34 ERA. He was 12-1 with a 1.74 ERA in 16 starts in a 2013 season interrupted by a back/neck injury.

The Red Sox's revamped rotation is without former ace Jon Lester, who signed with the Chicago Cubs as a free agent during the offseason. In addition to Buchholz, the starting five includes righthanders Rick Porcello, Joe Kelly and Justin Masterson, and left-hander Wade Miley. Kelly was acquired last July, while Porcello, Masterson and Wiley were added during the offseason.
