Blue Jays claim right-hander West off waivers from Rangers

TORONTO (AP) Right-hander Matt West has been claimed by the Toronto Blue Jays off waivers from the Texas Rangers.

West had a 6.75 ERA in four innings over three games with Texas last season. He was 2-0 with a 0.68 ERA and three saves in eight games with Double-A Frisco and 3-3 with a 4.15 ERA in 33 games with Triple-A Round Rock.

Right-hander Cory Burns was designated for assignment by Toronto on Wednesday to open a spot on the 40-man roster.
