Astros sign 1st-round pick Delino DeShields Jr

The Houston Astros have signed first-round draft pick Delino DeShields Jr.
The 17-year-old DeShields is the son of former major league second baseman Delino DeShields.
The Astros announced the move Thursday and gave him a signing bonus of $2.15 million. He was the eighth player picked overall and plays the outfield and infield.
DeShields will report to the Astros' team in the Gulf Coast League on Friday. He's scheduled to stay there for a week before joining rookie level Greenville of the Appalachian League.
