A's Hahn to miss Thursday start due to blister, Chavez filling in

Published Apr. 21, 2015 5:22 p.m. ET

Oakland A's pitcher Jesse Hahn was dealing last Saturday, keeping the Kansas City Royals at bay until a blister forced him to leave the game in the sixth inning.

On Monday, manager Bob Melvin told Joe Stiglich of Comcast Sports Net Bay Area that the blister is enough of an issue to cause Hahn to miss his next scheduled start on Thursday against the Los Angeles Angels.

In his place, versatile reliever/spot starter/bullpen asset Jesse Chavez will step up to make the start. Chavez replaced Hahn in Saturday's game and threw 3 2/3 shutout innings of relief and began the 2015 season as the pitcher most likely to fill in on a given night.
