A's co-owner: 'It would be nice to know' where Raiders are headed

Monday's news of three NFL organizations -- the Oakland Raiders, St. Louis Rams and San Diego Chargers -- filing for relocation to Los Angeles wasn't unexpected considering all the talk over the past few months.
For the Oakland Athletics, though, it has an added significance. The A's and Raiders, after all, are still sharing a dual-purpose facility in O.co Coliseum, and the A's are trying to figure out if a new stadium in Oakland is a viable option.
The A's and the city of Oakland (and the Raiders, too) have been embroiled in ongoing discussions about the future of any pro sports in the city, so A's co-owner Lew Wolff is paying close attention to the NFL's situation with the Raiders.
When reached by Joe Stiglich of CSN Bay Area on Monday to discuss the news, Wolff stressed a desire for clarity regarding the NFL's plans for the Raiders:
“I do think any planning that either we or the Raiders do, we both would be better off knowing what decisions would be affecting either club.
“We’re just interested in seeing what their plans may be, and we respect their position. I don’t have any idea if (the NFL) will reach a decision or not. We’re continuing our studies in Oakland. It would be nice to know what (the Raiders’) plans are. I’m sure they would like that themselves.”
Just how this situation of three NFL teams seeking relocation to Los Angeles plays out will be fascinating to watch -- for the sport itself and also for the A's and their long-term future.
