Altuve sits after being plunked in hand

HOUSTON (AP) Houston second baseman Jose Altuve was out of the lineup Friday night against Tampa Bay after being hit on the right hand by a pitch a night before.

X-rays taken on Thursday night were negative and he is listed as day to day. Altuve says he feels better on Friday than he did when it happened and that he'd like to play on Saturday.

When asked if Altuve could play on Saturday, manager Bo Porter said: ''He's a resilient guy. He's tough so I'm not going to put that past him. We'll see how the treatment goes ... and make that decision (Saturday).

Altuve, who leads the American League in hits (90) and stolen bases (24) missed his first game of the season Wednesday night because of a sore oblique muscle.
