Adam Jones on MLB's lack of support for Kaepernick: 'Baseball is a white man's sport'

Adam Jones has never been afraid to speak his mind, and with the NFL in the middle of a controversy surrounding actions taken during the national anthem, the Baltimore Orioles outfielder spoke to USA Today's Bob Nightengale this weekend about the lack of MLB support for the movement San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick is spearheading in the NFL:

While Jones' comments are certainly up for interpretation, the numbers do support his claims -- as African-Americans currently represent roughly 68 percent of the NFL's players and approximately 74 percent in the NBA but only about 8 percent in MLB.

And when asked if an MLB player will soon replicate what Kaepernick has started in the NFL:

Jones isn't promising that he or anyone in MLB will follow Kaepernick's footsteps and start the movement within professional baseball, but he is certainly letting his voice be heard regarding this important issue in today's society.
