The best places to watch the New Orleans Saints play by neighborhood on gameday

Today is the only time Saint’s fans will get to see the Black and Gold play on Monday Night Football. Nothing beats being in the Superdome and watching the games inside with the crowd hollering. However, there are some great places to catch the game all around the New Orleans area if the game is out of reach.

I’m told that this place is great place to watch a game. The group is sort of like the “Cheers” mentality. There is usually a potluck meal there, so make sure you bring a little something. Vaughan’s has three televisions to watch and a great little tight knit group that is usually there. If a smaller venue that brings the family type unity is what you’re looking for go to Vaughan’s.

Tracey’s is one of my favorite places to just visit in general. They have a nice little kitchen towards the back that has some pretty good bar food. If you go to Tracey’s for a Saints game, there will no doubt be a packed house there. There are plenty of TV’s with eight taps that gives the patrons a good choice to pick from for a beverage. Also heard that the alligator Po’Boy is worth the ride itself.

The French Quarter is simply internationally known all over the world. While it’s seemingly hard to comprehend going to a sports bar in the quarter, this is one of the local favorites no doubt. The Good Friends Bar features a good mix of people, but make sure you come with an open mind as there is a good number of people with the alternative lifestyle that likes to call this place home.

Sometimes that atmosphere can actually make the stay more enjoyable for some. One day I’m gonna go out here and try the signature Good Friends drink or the Separator. The good thing about being in the quarter, is if the game goes south there’s always free entertainment on every block.

This place has the best seats in the city. They are simply perfect to recline back and watch the game on the big humungous screen. Of course the name is for the famous quarterbackk Archie Manning who played in the 70’s. A long time ago, the quarterback and some of the Saints used to visit my parents restaurant in Gretna.

Now I try and get there to pay him back. The TV is a mega picture screen being 13 feet by 7.5 feet, which makes the viewing experience delightful. There are other small TV’s around the bar as well. The prices are a little high, but for big games I like to drop in and say “Hey Archie.” It’s located very near the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center.

The Bulldog is set right there on Canal Blvd which attracts somewhat of a young yuppie crowd. The Bulldog actually has two locations with the other in uptown. There’s plenty of options as far as craft beer here as well. Furthermore, fans can find over 50 beers on tap. The prices are as reasonable as it gets too. Tourists will love the above ground cemetery that stands right across the street. If the game gets bad, they used to have a few arcade games in the back as well.

This bar is always hopping no matter what event is happening. Finn’s is one of the greatest people friendly bar you’ll find. Soccer is always a big draw here weekly as well. For a Saint game make sure you can get there early.

The bar is usually packed with jubilant locals yelling and screaming at the many televisions there. Usually, there’s a very active and engaging group that is present. Beer and wine prices may be the lowest around in all the neighborhoods. And yes there’s a chance you may actually see a few Irish peoplr running around including myself.

Oh the beauty of uptown New Orleans is astounding to look at. Cooter Browns has been a fixture of New Orleans for a long time. If there’s a beer out there that you are looking for, Cooter Browns will likely have it.

Televisions are set all over the place, and there are booths and tables galore. There are over 400 beers to choose from with nearly 30 on tap. My favorite is the Dark and Tan (Guinness and Bass). The food is good quality for a little bar and grill. There will always be a solid number of Tulane and Loyola students that come here and plenty of raw delicious oysters. My mouth is salivating.
