Woodley, West lead NW State to 79-57 win over Nicholls
THIBODAUX, La. (AP) Zeek Woodley scored 25 points and Jalan West had 19 points and nine assists as Northwestern State rolled over Nicholls 79-57 on Monday night.
West broke the school’s assist record with 553, passing Ryan Bundey’s 552 from 1994-98. Woodley became Northwestern State’s only sophomore to reach 1,000 points in his career when he started the game with a 3-pointer.
Nicholls was up 43-35 with 14:28 left in the second half when West hit a jumper to start a 13-2 run for a 48-45 lead with 10:30 left. The Demons followed that with a 21-3 run and coasted to the win.
Northwestern State (16-10, 11-4) is in third place in the Southland Conference behind Sam Houston State and Stephen F. Austin.
T.J. Carpenter was 4 of 7 from beyond the arc for 19 points for Nicholls (7-17, 4-10). Sam McBeath grabbed 14 rebounds.
