Cent. Arkansas 74, E. Illinois 72

Following a scramble for a loose ball, DeShone McClure hit a

jumper as time expired to send Central Arkansas to a 74-72 victory

over Eastern Illinois on Wednesday night.

McClure scored only eight points, but his last bucket came up

big for Central Arkansas (2-3), a team that led 34-25 at halftime

and barely held off a second-half surge by Eastern Illinois. The

Panthers had outscored Central Arkansas 47-38 in the second half up

until McClure’s clutch shot, ending the comeback.

The Bears shot 49.2 percent, nailing 30-61 attempts and hit nine


Three players were in double figures for Central Arkansas, led

by LaQuentin Miles who scored 14 points on 6-of-12 shooting while

adding five assists and four rebounds. Jarvis Garner had 12 points

and seven rebounds and Zach Padgett chipped in with 10.
