AP Source: Chiefs reach deal with OL Mitchell Schwartz

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) The Kansas City Chiefs have agreed to a five-year contract with former Browns offensive lineman Mitchell Schwartz, a person familiar with the situation told The Associated Press.

The person spoke on condition of anonymity Wednesday because the Chiefs had not announced the deal.

Schwartz played every game for Cleveland last season as the bookend to Pro Bowl tackle Joe Thomas. The second-round pick in the 2012 draft is the brother of former Giants offensive guard Geoff Schwartz, who played for Kansas City during the 2013 season.

The Chiefs also agreed to a deal with outside linebacker Jonathan Massaquoi as free agency began.

Meanwhile, the franchise was docked two draft picks and ordered to pay a $250,000 fine for violating the NFL's anti-tampering rules in their discussions with wide receiver Jeremy Maclin last year. The Chiefs said in a statement they will appeal the penalties.
