The Royals grabbed a flurry of pitching prospects with their eight picks on the second day of the MLB Draft, including left-handed pitcher Daniel Tillo from Iowa Western Community College in the third round.

Of the Royals' eight second-day picks, six were used to select pitchers with the other two picks adding to the team's outfield.

The Royals selected LHP Daniel Tillo in the third, center fielder Michael Gigliotti in the fourth, RHP Charlie Neuweiler in the fifth, RHP Tyler Zuber in the sixth, outfielder Brewer Hicklen in the seventh, LHP Holden Capps in the eighth, LHP JC Cloney in the ninth and LHP Jordan Floyd in the ninth.

Tillo, originally drafted in the 39th round by Minnesota in 2016, went 1-0 in nine appearances (five starts) with a 2.86 ERA (14 earned runs over 44 innings pitched) and 57 strikeouts as a sophomore at Iowa Western. He’s the highest-drafted player out of Iowa Western CC.
