Canada beats US women 5-1 in Four Nations final

Jocelyne Lamoreux gave the U.S. women's hockey team the lead midway through the first period before Canada took control.

The Canadians quickly took a 2-1 lead and then added three power-play goals in the last two periods to secure the win.

Carla MacLeod, Meghan Aghosta, Tessa Bonhomme, Cherie Piper and Jayna Hefford scored for Canada.

Shannon Szabados made 21 saves for Canada, while U.S. goalie Molly Schaus had 24.

Hefford finished with four goals in four games, while Hayley Wickenheiser had one goal and five assists in the tournament.

Hilary Knight was the most productive U.S. player with two goals and three assists.

The U.S. had beaten Canada 3-2 in their final group game on Friday after each team had won games against Finland and Sweden.

The Canadians have won nine of twelve Four Nation finals, all against the U.S.

Sweden took third place after a 2-1 shootout victory against Finland.
