Packers WR Davante Adams on drops: 'It's hard to let it go'

Published Dec. 2, 2015 2:33 a.m. ET

The Green Bay Packers have been struggling over the past few weeks and the offense has been disconnected in a big way. Aaron Rogers made a comment about the wide receivers obviously being on a different page from him and Davante Adams has been one of the receivers with the biggest issues.

Part of the problem for Adams has been missing a big chunk of time due to an injured ankle, which cost him time and contributed to the loss of chemistry between him and the offense.

Adams talked to the media about his issues with dropped passes and made it very clear that he is upset with himself. He has more talent than he has shown this season and Green Bay can only hope that he can get himself back on track moving forward.

“It’s hard to let it go,” Adams said. “You really want to have that, they call it, the DB (defensive back) mentality. Just let it go, and go to the next play. Forget about it. But it’s hard. I try not to drop any ball. It’s not a great feeling. You don’t want to have moments like this where that’s all they’re talking about now.”

Throughout the course of the 2015 season to this point, Adams has played in eight regular season games. He has caught 32 passes for 322 yards and hasn’t caught a touchdown yet. Those numbers show the struggles that he has had and it is incredibly disappointing following a full offseason of hype.

At 22 years old, it is way too early to begin giving up on Adams no matter how tough this stretch has been for him.

Looking ahead at the remainder of the season for the Packers, they desperately need players to begin stepping up. Their playoff hopes are in jeopardy, although many still expect them to make the playoffs and end up winning the NFC North division. Whether they win the division or not, the Packers have to figure their offensive woes out in order to contend for a Super Bowl like they were expected to.

Expect to see Adams begin turning his season around over the next couple of weeks and to get back to being a go-to target for Rodgers like he was expected to be throughout the entire offseason.
