Marquise Goodwin doesn't qualify for U.S. Track team
Buffalo Bills wide receiver Marquise Goodwin won't have to decide between training camp and the world championships for track and field in August as he did not qualify for the U.S. Track team this weekend.
Last week, Goodwin was a late addition to the United States' Track Team in the long jump. Competing for the first time in the long jump since 2012, Goodwin jumped 27 feet 5.5 inches over the weekend. That resulted in a fourth place finish which wasn't good enough to move on to the World Championships. In order to qualify, he would've had to finish in the top three.
If he had finished in the top three, Goodwin would've had to decide if he wanted to skip the third week of preseason when the Bills play the Steelers, or go to the World Championships which take place August 28 in Beijing.
Now that he didn't qualify, Goodwin can focus on his football career. Considering he appeared in 10 games last season and only caught one pass, it seems that Goodwin could be on the roster bubble this year.
