Broncos' kicker Barth thinks the NFL missed on its PAT change
Many kickers probably aren't pleased with the NFL's latest rule change.
Count Denver's Connor Barth among them. He Broncos kicker says he's "kind of old school" and sees no reason to push extra point tries to the 15-yard line.
"It'll probably change the percentages a little bit, but we're all pretty good kickers, and I still think we'll be in the high 90 percent range on extra points from the 15," he said. "I think they're just trying to find something to change."
Barth suggested narrowing the uprights -- a move many others have echoed. Instead, kickers will line up for what amounts to a 33-yard field goal try after their teams find the end zone.
"Most guys can hit 33-yarders in their sleep," Barth said.
There is one added benefit the kicker sees in the rule change, however.
"It would weed out the strong-legged kickers who aren't accurate," he said. "It would make our value go up."
