Stan Van Gundy on trades: We won't make lateral moves
Detroit Pistons head coach Stan Van Gundy isn't afraid to make big moves in order to improve his team, but he's making his stance clear well before the trade deadline this year.
While the Pistons have some flaws and are still working on their chemistry, the team is 16-12 and firmly in the playoff hunt.
With that in mind, Van Gundy is looking to keep his core group together and won't make a deal just to make one. Here's what he told Aaron McMann of MLive.com:
"Because we like our group," Van Gundy said. "I like the chemistry and character of our group. We won't make lateral moves or marginal moves because continuity is important."
While Van Gundy's opinion could change over the next few months, it sounds like the Pistons will either go big with a trade or stay put and try to make a run as is.
