Report: Evans mulling foot surgery
Sacramento Kings guard Tyreke Evans is considering season-ending surgery to repair a mild case of plantar fascitis in his left foot, the San Francisco Chronicle reported Tuesday.
Evans, who won the NBA Rookie of the Year award last season, scored 32 points Monday night in his team's 100-99 loss to the Clippers. Following the game, he said he is thinking about undergoing the procedure, which would sideline him for three to four months.
"Hopefully it will go away soon. I talked to my agent (Bob Myers) today, and I was thinking about (the procedure). ... He's going to let me know and we'll see what's up. I'll just keep that in mind, whether I want to just keep playing through it or get it over with," Evans said.
Evans could choose to wait until after February's All-Star break or delay the procedure until the offseason.
Plantar fascitis is a painful inflammation of the plantar fascia, a piece of tissue that stretches from the heel to the base of the toes.
Evans, drafted fourth overall by Sacramento in 2009, had been struggling this month before rounding into form Monday night. In the previous two games, Evans scored a total of just 19 points, shooting a paltry 6-for-31 for the NBA-worst Kings.
