Report: Dwyane Wade, Heat making progress in contract talks

Published Jul. 1, 2015 1:37 p.m. ET

In the end, all of the noise around the reported contract impasse between Dwyane Wade and the Miami Heat could end up as nothing more than a blip on the radar.

According to Yahoo! Sports/FOX Sports 1 NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski, the two sides are already making progress in talks on a new deal that would likely be for multiple seasons.

The deal between the Toronto Raptors and DeMarre Carroll could be a good barometer for Wade's deal. Carroll reportedly signed for four years and $60 million; it's hard to see Wade taking a lower average annual value than Carroll. A 3-year deal for $16 or $17 million per year with a possible option on the third season could make sense for both sides, although there are reports that Wade is looking for the max.
