Hawks' Powell suspended from game vs. Bobcats

Published Jan. 22, 2011 6:32 p.m. ET

Hawks coach Larry Drew has suspended reserve forward Josh Powell for one game.

Drew didn't allow Powell to travel to Charlotte for Saturday's game against the Bobcats, but wouldn't say what he did during or after Friday's 100-59 home loss to New Orleans. Drew called it a ''coach's decision'' and said it would be just a one-game suspension.

Powell played just over eight minutes and missed all three shots against the Hornets. He's averaging 4.8 points.

The Hawks also were without injured starters Al Horford and Marvin Williams. Drew says Horford (sprained right ankle) could return Wednesday at Milwaukee. Williams' return from a back injury remains uncertain.
