Golden State GM admits Warriors have been lucky during their championship run

Finally. After a year of opponents pointing out that the Golden State Warriors have had luck on their side over the past couple of seasons, a member of the organization has admitted that's been the case.

But Bob Myers isn't here to talk about injury luck on the Warriors' road to back-to-back Finals. Instead, the Golden State general manager joined Colin Cowherd on The Herd on Tuesday to discuss how luck plays a part in every industry:

Again, it's not quite the same luck that teams like the Los Angeles Clippers have talked about in trying to criticize the Warriors' first title run, but Myers is right. There's so much in this world that's outside of our control. That doesn't mean preparation, hard work and planning are meaningless. It does mean, though, that all you can do is try your hardest and let the cards fall where they may.

And if that's the case, feel free to call the Warriors lucky. They absolutely were when it came time to keep Thompson instead of trading him for Kevin Love. As Myers said, it's not completely about luck. The team did its due diligence and came to an informed decision that's clearly worked out. Yet despite that success, there was no guarantee tof success. That things have played out so well is a stroke of good fortune, regardless of how how small a factor luck might have played.

That's not an insult to those who matter. All the people like Myers care about in the end is making the right decisions -- and winning rings. Mission accomplished.
