Al Jefferson reportedly agrees to a 3-year deal with the Pacers

The Indiana Pacers parted ways with head coach Frank Vogel after six successful seasons because team president Larry Bird wanted to see his offense play at a faster pace.

Fast-forward a couple of months to free agency, and Indiana's first move -- signing big man Al Jefferson to a three-year deal -- would seem to be contradictory to the team's stated change in philosophy.

Jefferson, 31, is an above-average low post scorer, but does almost all of his damage late into the shot clock in his team's half-court sets. He averaged 12 points and 6.4 rebounds in 23.3 minutes per game for the Hornets last season.

Injuries have limited his effectiveness over the past two years, but this contract is a bargain considering the salary cap spike that has players like Timofey Mozgov inking seemingly outrageous deals.
