Young wants to remain with Rangers

Published Dec. 8, 2010 12:00 a.m. ET

Michael Young, the subject of trade talk, does not want to play for any team but the Texas Rangers.

“I’m a Ranger,” Young told FOXSports.com on Wednesday night. “I have no interest in playing for a different organization. The idea of suiting up for a different team in spring training doesn’t appeal to me at all.

“I just came off a World Series. I’ve been with this team 10 years. I’m entrenched in the community. My family lives in Dallas year-round. My oldest son goes to school here. This is where I want to be. This is where I want to play.”

The Rangers are pushing hardest to make a deal with the Rockies, but have also discussed Young with the Angels, Cardinals and Dodgers, sources say.

Young's camp says that Rangers general manager Jon Daniels informed them Tuesday that he did not reach out to any clubs — and further, that he would not be traded.

But the Rangers initiated those conversations and continued them into Wednesday, other sources say.
