Yankees lose Cruz to knee injury
The Yankees have recalled third baseman David Adams from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and placed third baseman Luis Cruz on the 15-day disabled list with a sprained right knee.
Cruz was hurt while making a play Monday night. He has played 16 games for the Yankees this year after appearing in 45 for the Dodgers. He is hitting .145 overall this season, with 11 RBIs.
Adams is hitting .190 in 35 games for New York this season, with two homers and nine RBIs.
Third baseman Alex Rodriguez has missed the entire season while he recovers from hip surgery. The Yankees had planned to activate him by this week, but a quadriceps strain forced him back for further rehab. The star slugger is also under investigation by Major League Baseball for his reported ties to a clinic accused of distributing banned performance-enhancing drugs.
