TAMPA, Fla. (AP) Jacoby Ellsbury was hit on the right wrist by a pitch from Atlanta's Julio Teheran during the fifth inning of the New York Yankees' game against the Atlanta Braves on Saturday.
New York said Ellsbury was going to a hospital for X-rays.
Ellsbury was hurt just as New York manager Joe Girardi was speaking on the Yankees' television broadcast about the importance of keeping the center fielder and leadoff hitter healthy. Ellsbury was on the disabled list from May 20 to July 8 last year because of a sprained right knee.

Ellsbury made a diving catch in deep center on a first-inning drive by Nick Swisher, who tipped his helmet toward the outfielder.
