Weeks, Brewers agree to $50M deal

Published Feb. 16, 2011 12:00 a.m. ET

The Milwaukee Brewers have agreed to a five-year, $50 million deal with second baseman Rickie Weeks, according to a source.

By reaching agreement, the team and Weeks avoid the arbitration.

The Brewers can void the fifth year of Weeks' deal if he is not an everyday player in 2013 and 14.

After five injury-plagued seasons, Weeks stayed healthy in 2010 and played 160 games. He batted .269 with 83 RBIs and 29 home runs.
