Toronto manager John Farrell to miss Rays game

Blue Jays manager John Farrell will not be in the dugout for Friday night's home game against Tampa Bay a day after he was diagnosed with pneumonia.

He has been released from the hospital and could return to the team as early as Saturday.

Farrell left Thursday's 9-6 loss to the Kansas City Royals in the bottom of the ninth inning. He was experiencing what the club said was muscular pain on his left side, below the rib cage.

He was not available for his usual postgame news conference and was taken to Mount Sinai hospital, where his condition was diagnosed.
