WHAT IT MEANS

The Will To Live Foundation is dedicated to raising awareness of and education for preventing teen suicide in America. It works with the teens and young adults of our communities, teaching them to understand the power they have to help one another. The foundation started 5 1/2 years ago after the suicide death of 15-year-old Will Trautwein and has since raised more than $1,000,000 for Suicide awareness and prevention causes and organizations.  WTL co-founder and former MLB player John Trautwein was a college teammate of Yankees manager Joe Girardi at Northwestern University. FOX Sports’ Ken Rosenthal noticed Joe wearing the Will To Live “Life Teammate” wristband during batting practice one day at Yankee Stadium and asked Joe about it. Joe, a huge ambassador of the foundation, introduced John and Ken Rosenthal, and the WTL bowtie was soon created.

The design is based on a drawing by then 6-year-old Holyn Trautwein after the suicide death of her oldest brother, Will. The drawing depicts kids holding hands and being “Life Teammates” with one another.
