Tim Teufel to remain with Mets as minor league instructor

NEW YORK (AP) Tim Teufel will remain with the New York Mets as a roving minor league infield instructor and club ambassador.

A member of the Mets' 1986 World Series championship team, Teufel had been the third base coach since 2012 and also was New York's catching instructor.

New York said Nov. 15 that Teufel was being replaced as third base coach by Glenn Sherlock, who spent 21 seasons with Arizona.

Teufel's new position was announced Friday.
