Tigers' Sanchez no-hitting Royals through 6 innings

DETROIT (AP) Anibal Sanchez is through six hitless innings for the Detroit Tigers against the Kansas City Royals.

The right-hander retired the first 12 batters Wednesday night, then walked Eric Hosmer and Alex Gordon in the fifth inning. He has thrown 88 pitches and Kansas City hasn't come close to a hit.

Sanchez has seven strikeouts and two walks.

Sanchez threw a no-hitter for the Marlins against Arizona on Sept. 6, 2006.

Detroit leads 1-0.
