Tigers rookie Suarez takes a tumble on his way to home plate
Welcome to the blooper reel, Eugenio Suarez.
Suarez, a 22-year-old Detroit Tigers shortstop, has impressed at the plate since earning his first major league call-up last month, but his baserunning led to a rather unfortunate blunder Sunday night.
With the Tigers trailing the Tampa Bay Rays by five runs in the seventh inning, the young infielder took off from first base on Austin Jackson's two-out double into the left field corner.
Suarez had rounded third by the time Matt Joyce's relay reached the cut-off man, but as he barreled in on catcher Jose Molina, he tripped, fell right on his face and easily was tagged out.
