Tigers LF Brennan Boesch injured on foul ball

Published Jul. 6, 2011 12:12 a.m. ET

Detroit outfielder Brennan Boesch has left the Tigers' game against the Los Angeles Angels after fouling a ball off his leg.

Boesch was injured in the third inning Tuesday night, fouling a pitch from Dan Haren off the inside of his lower right thigh. Boesch grimaced in pain for several moments before finishing his at-bat with an inning-ending groundout back to the mound.

Andy Dirks replaced Boesch in left field in the bottom half of the third.

Boesch entered the game on a roll, hitting .398 with eight homers and 15 RBIs over his last 30 games.
