Tiger deal Sizemore to A's for Purcey

With two-time All-Star reliever Andrew Bailey set to return from the disabled list any day, the Oakland Athletics made room in their bullpen by sending left-hander David Purcey to the Detroit Tigers on Friday.

In return, the Tigers sent infielder Scott Sizemore to the A's. Sizemore was batting .222 in 17 games with Detroit and is expected to report to Oakland's Triple-A team in Sacramento.

Bailey, who has been on the disabled list since March 30 with a strained right forearm, was scheduled to make his fourth and possibly final rehab appearance for Sacramento on Friday night. A's manager Bob Geren said earlier Friday that the 2009 AL Rookie of the Year could rejoin the A's sometime during the current homestand.

Purcey had a 2.13 ERA in nine games with Oakland after being acquired in a trade from Toronto on April 18.

To take Purcey's place on the 25-man roster, the A's called up left-hander Bobby Cramer from Sacramento. Cramer was on Oakland's opening day roster but was sent down to the minors on April 25 and later went on the disabled list with a strained oblique.
