SURPRISE, Ariz. (AP) The Texas Rangers are bringing in Spike Owen as their interim third base coach with Tony Beasley going through chemotherapy treatment.
Owen is scheduled to be in their big league camp Monday, two days before the first exhibition game this spring.
Beasley was diagnosed with rectal cancer during the offseason, and will be undergoing chemotherapy while with the team in Arizona.
Manager Jeff Banister says the Rangers will treat Beasley similar to players, with the 49-year-old coach letting them know what he is capable of doing on a daily basis.

Owen, a former big league infielder, is the manager at Hickory, the Rangers' Class A team.
With the Rangers, he will coach third base and help with the infield and baserunning.
