The rookies keep on coming.

Pittsburgh Pirates prospect Gregory Polanco, 22, is the latest young-star-in-waiting headed to the big leagues.

Through Tuesday, the left-handed slugger is hitting .351 (79 for 225) with six homers and 47 RBI in 57 games for Triple-A Indianapolis. He's also swiped 14 of 19 stolen-base attempts.

Pittsburgh hopes Polanco will add some spark to the offense. The Pirates rank 22nd in the majors in runs (226), 20th in RBI (216) and 17th in batting average (.250).

Polanco, who turns 23 on Sept. 14, is listed at 6-4, 220 pounds and is from the Dominican Republic. Signed as an international free agent, he's been in the Pirates' farm system since 2009 when he was 17.
