The Yankees have agreed to a one-year contract with free-agent right-hander Freddy Garcia, a major-league source confirmed to FOXSports.com.

The deal includes a base salary near $4 million, the source said.

Garcia was one of the most cost-effective signings in baseball this year, agreeing to terms with the Yankees mere days before spring training. He went 12-8 with a 3.62 ERA in 26 games, while pitching 146-2/3 innings.

The Yankees may still add another starting pitcher before the 2012 season begins.

At the moment, their rotation includes CC Sabathia, Ivan Nova, A.J. Burnett, Garcia, and Phil Hughes.
