Sam Fuld conquers Tal's Hill with amazing catch in A's win over Astros

Oakland A's outfielder Sam Fuld has a bit of a reputation - and it's one he definitely reinforced in the A's 2-1 win over the Houston Astros on Monday night.

You see, Fuld is known for crashing around in the outfield, giving 100 percent (or more) on effort in his attempts to catch anything in the vicinity of where he's playing - and it paid off in the eighth inning.

With Oakland clinging to a perilous one-run lead, the bullpen was entrusted to pitch the final four innings of the game. That's already a daunting sentiment for a club in a position such as that of the 2015 A's (last place in the A.L. West and with one of the lowest winning percentages in the game), so the defense needed to come up big - and Fuld did just that.

Astros slugger George Springer clubbed a deep drive to dead center off Evan Scribner - the type of blast that would be a home run in just about any other ballpark. But in Houston, that raised grassy knoll called Tal's Hill reared its ugly head (from Houston's perspective) or came up huge (from Oakland's point of view), and Fuld raced it down with an acrobatic catch:

His heroics left a strong imrpession on Scribner, who obviously couldn't really believe what he had just seen:

That play was exactly the sort of 'little thing' the A's haven't done much of yet in 2015, so it was a big moment for an otherwise struggling club.
