Rockies' Ottavino 'worried' about elbow injury
The specter of Tommy John has been looming over pitchers suffering elbow injuries lately. There has been a rash of Tommy John surgeries among pitchers in recent years, and the Dodgers’ Brandon McCarthy recently went down and was set to undergo the procedure.
Nick Groke of the Denver Post quotes Adam Ottavino:
"I'm definitely worried," Ottavino said Wednesday. "I haven't had any elbow or triceps issues my whole career.”
The right-hander said he was in “a holding pattern” until he can be evaluated by a team doctor on Monday in Denver. The Rockies closer talked about the how he had been feeling:
"It just didn't feel very good in the last couple of games I pitched in," Ottavino said. "I just couldn't get loose.”
He hasn’t allowed a run in 10 1/3 innings this season, and he’s picked up three saves.
