Rockies activate Roberts, place Brown on DL

Published May. 23, 2015 3:03 p.m. ET

DENVER (AP) The Colorado Rockies placed left-handed pitcher Ken Roberts on the 15-day DL with inflammation in his left elbow and activated right-hander reliever Brooks Brown from the 15-day DL.

Brown had been out since May 3 with tightness in his right shoulder.

The Rockies also added David Hale as their 26th man for the second game of their doubleheader against San Francisco on Saturday. The right-hander acquired from Atlanta last winter will make his Colorado debut.

A left oblique strain squelched Hale's bid for the No. 5 starter job in spring training. He rehabbed in the minor leagues and started the season at Triple-A Albuquerque.

The Giants recalled right-hander Hunter Strickland from Triple-A Sacramento as their 26th man for the nightcap of the day-night double-header.
