Reyes homers against Mets to extend hitting streak

Jose Reyes has homered at Citi Field to extend his hitting streak to a career-high 26 games, the longest in the majors this season.

Playing with a wrap on his sore right hand, Reyes sent a shot into the second deck in right field Wednesday night against New York Mets starter Chris Young. The first-inning drive put Miami ahead, and teammate Giancarlo Stanton added a two-run homer moments later.

Reyes rounded the bases enthusiastically to a mix of boos and cheers, the same sort of reception he has received during both trips to Citi Field this season. A four-time All-Star shortstop with the Mets, Reyes left last December to sign a $106 million, six-year contract with the Marlins.

His eighth home run of the season left him 3-for-17 at Citi Field this year.
