Report: Ex-pitcher charged with DUI

Former major league pitcher Curtis Leskanic was arrested after he was found to be driving with a blood-alcohol content more than four times the legal limit, the Orlando Sentinel reported Wednesday.

Leskanic, 44, was found by police Sunday night passed out behind the wheel of his pickup truck at a green light, according to the report, and was later found to have a blood-alcohol level of 0.331. The legal limit is .008.

The arrest affidavit states that Leskanic's five-year-old daughter was sleeping unrestrained in the passenger seat, so in addition to DUI he was also charged with child neglect. He was checked out at a hospital before being taken to jail, since a blood-alcohol level of 0.3 or higher can be fatal.

Police in Altamonte Springs, Fla., outside Orlando, responded to the scene after a driver reported a pickup truck "swerving all over the road" with a child inside. According to the Sentinel, the arrest report stated that Leskanic was agitated and screaming at police after being placed under arrest.

Leskanic, a righty reliever, pitched in the majors from 1993 to 2004, mostly with the Colorado Rockies and Milwaukee Brewers. He appeared in 603 games, with a career ERA of 4.36 and 55 saves.
