Report: Cubs agree to deal with relief pitcher Wright

Published Dec. 4, 2013 12:00 a.m. ET

A person familiar with the situation says the Chicago Cubs have agreed to a one-year contract with reliever Wesley Wright.

The person spoke Wednesday on the condition of anonymity because the deal is pending a physical. The financial terms were not known.

Wright posted a 3.69 ERA in 70 games with Houston and Tampa Bay last season. He was not tendered a contract by the Rays.

USA Today first reported the deal.
