Report: Blue Jays have had discussions with A's for Tyler Clippard
Having won 10-straight games, the Toronto Blue Jays have gone from -4.5 games back in the division to just a game.
They boast the most prolific offense in baseball, having scored 343 runs. The second place team, the Texas Rangers, have scored 286. Where they are lacking, however, is on the mound, where the pitching staff owns a 4.28 ERA, good for 27th in MLB.
Diving deeper into the stats, heading into today's game, Toronto pitchers were 0-4 with a 6.90 ERA in 30 innings pitched in save situations. According to a report, they are looking to remedy their weak bullpen:
The #BlueJays recently checked in with #Athletics on Tyler Clippard. Toronto looking for both starting and bullpen upgrades.

Serving as a primary closer for the Oakland Athletics, Clippard has pitched to a 3.20 ERA and nine saves.
Clippard's stats might not jump off the page, but there is no doubt he would provide a boost to a team in dire need of bullpen help.
