Reds ace Cueto expected to undergo MRI on elbow

Published May. 26, 2015 11:15 a.m. ET

Reds ace Johnny Cueto is expected to undergo an MRI exam on his elbow Tuesday, FOX Sports 1 MLB Insider Jon Paul Morosi reported.

Cueto, who had to miss a start over the weekend in Cleveland, has complained of stiffness in his right elbow, which was examined Monday. He won 20 games last season, was named to his first All-Star team and finished second in NL Cy Young voting.

Cueto's agent told Morosi that he is optimistic the issue is related to fatigue.

"He hasn't had total relief, and I'd have thought by now he would," Reds manager Bryan Price said Monday.

Cueto is 3-4 with a 3.03 ERA this season.
