Red Sox DH Ortiz (wrist) unlikely to play final 3 games vs. Yankees
As the Yankees roll into Boston for the final three games of Derek Jeter's career, don't expect to see Red Sox DH David Ortiz in the starting lineup for any of them.
Ortiz missed his second straight game Thursday with a sore left wrist and manager John Farrell said the team "would learn toward" shutting him down, "but at the same time if he feels good to go, we're certainly not going to hold him out."
Ortiz injured this wrist in a similar place in 2008, when he tore a tendon sheath and missed 45 games.
Ortiz said after the game that he didn't think he'd play this weekend. "The doctor told me the other day take it day by day, but it'll probably take a week at least to go back to normal," he said.
Ortiz has hit .263 with 35 home runs and 104 RBI in 2014.
