Rangers sign lefty reliever Rhodes

Published Dec. 23, 2010 11:30 p.m. ET

The Texas Rangers and left-handed reliever Arthur Rhodes have agreed to a one-year contract, a major-league source confirmed to FOXSports.com.

The deal will become official once Rhodes passes a physical exam.

The 41-year-old Rhodes, who pitched superbly as the Reds won the division, now joins a bullpen that also includes veteran lefty Darren Oliver. Rhodes is coming off a season in which he made his first career All-Star appearance with a 4-4 record and 2.29 ERA in 69 relief appearances.

Entering his 20th major league season, Rhodes also has played for Baltimore, Seattle, Oakland, Cleveland, Philadelphia and Florida.
